    Thousands without power following Wednesday morning storms

    TULSA, Okla. — Thousands of customers are without power in Green Country following Wednesday morning storms.

    High winds and rain hit the Tulsa metro Wednesday morning causing weather related outages.

    The Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) outage map shows over 8,000 outages in Green Country as of 1:50 p.m.

    The highest reported outages are near Broken Arrow and east Tulsa.

    OG&E said around 56,000 customers in total are without power in Oklahoma and Arkansas communities as of 12:00 pm. on Wednesday.

    OG&E released the following statement:

    "OG&E has deployed around 1,100 operations personnel to restore service to homes and businesses that can accept power. Extreme temperatures are expected today with the heat index reaching over 100 degrees. Please visit OGE.com/coolzones for a list of public spaces to get a break from the heat.
    We understand how important it is for our customers to have power. Our crews have been and will continue to work around the clock until power is fully restored. Get the latest updates at OGE.com/StormCenter ."
