    City of Tulsa opens emergency cooling stations after Wednesday morning's storms

    TULSA, Okla. — The City of Tulsa said emergency cooling stations will be open to the public following Wednesday morning's storms.

    The City said while the main threat for severe weather is over, the heat combined with power outages are a threat to personal safety.

    For Wednesday only, the following Tulsa Parks Community Centers will open as emergency cooling stations between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.:

    • Whiteside Park Community Center, 4009 S. Pittsburg Ave.
    • Owen Park Community Center, 560 N. Maybelle Ave.
    • Hicks Park Community Center, 3443 S. Mingo Rd.
    • Lacy Park Community Center, 2134 N. Madison Pl.

    The City also provided the following list of more permanent locations that are also open and available for those who do not need immediate medical attention but needs time to cool down:

    • John 3:16 Mission | 506 N. Cheyenne, Open 24/7
    • Salvation Army | 102 N. Denver Ave., Open 24/7
    • Tulsa Day Center | 415 West Archer St., Open 24/7
    • Tulsa County Social Services | 2401 Charles Page Blvd., 8:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.
    • MetroLink Denver Avenue Station, 319 S. Denver, M-F 5 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.
    • MetroLink Memorial Midtown Station, 7952 E. 33rd St., M-F 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.

    If you see someone in need of immediate heat-related medical attention, call 911.
