TPD: Local pastor facing charges accused of photographing man in public restroom

TULSA, Okla. — A local pastor is facing charges after he was accused of taking pictures of a man in a gym while he was using the bathroom.

Gary McCray, 61, was arrested for peeping tom with photographic/electronic equipment on Tuesday.

According to an affidavit, police were called to a Planet Fitness on March 20 after a man complained that McCray was photographing him while he was in the bathroom.

The affidavit said the victim confronted McCray and took the phone, finding photos of himself.

Police said the victim also provided a video he recorded while confronting McCray. In the video, McCray said "I'm sorry," and replied "I don't know, I have a problem," when he was asked why he took the photos.

On March 21, investigators served a search warrant for McCray's phone at his home with the help of Broken Arrow Police.

Police said they learned McCray was a pastor at a local church.

On March 25, investigators spoke with the pastor of McCray's church, who reported McCray met with several church leaders and admitted to taking photos of men without their knowledge.

According to the affidavit, McCray said he took photos of people in public restrooms and that the incident at Planet Fitness on March 20 was not the first time he'd done something like this.

The pastor of the church said McCray was removed from every position of leadership and made it clear they do not tolerate this type of behavior.

On April 16, investigators were contacted by McCray's wife. She reported McCray admitted to her that there should be more than one picture on his phone.

According to the affidavit, McCray's phone is still being examined to determine if there is additional evidence on it.
