Tulsa City-County Library holds community-wide reading initiative 'One Book, One Tulsa'

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa City-County Library held its community-wide reading initiative "One Book, One Tulsa" on Friday night.

Hemingway Award-winning author Oscar Hokeah discussed his work at the Central Library from 6 to 7 p.m.

The annual event works to bring the community together through book reading and conversations about meaningful works.

“This year we are reading ‘Calling for a Blanket Dance’ by Oscar Hokeah. It features cities like Lawton and Tahlequah so it’s neat to have a local author,” said Heather Lozano, adult services manager at Tulsa City-County Library.

“One book, One Tulsa” is sponsored by the Tulsa Library Trust.

The event and associated programs are free and open to the public.

Copies of "Calling for a Blanket Dance" are available for checkout at the library.
