Bicyclist severely injured after getting hit by car in south Tulsa

SOUTH TULSA, Okla. — A man on a bicycle was hit by a car near South Peoria Avenue and East 61st Street in south Tulsa just before 10 p.m. on Friday.

Police said injuries appear to be severe.

There was a large police presence along with firefighters and EMSA at the scene.

Police said the street will be closed for another hour or so while they continue to investigate, but they believe the cyclist to be at fault at this time.

Police said the cyclist crossed on a red light with no lights on their bicycle.

Officers said the driver of the car that hit the cyclist stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
