    To celebrate their 50th anniversaries, WVIA Radio and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic commissioned a new piece of music and presented a world premiere concert. Based on an Italian folk tale, Palma tells of a young girl facing adversity who finds consolation playing the violin, a tribute to the transformative power of music and the arts. The music was composed by Dr. Paul Salerni, the National Endowment for the Humanities Distinguished Chair in the Humanities and Professor of Music at Lehigh University, with lyrics and narration by the renowned poet and former chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts Dana Gioia. Join concert narrator Erika Funke and other special guests for a sneak preview of Palma before the TV premiere April 18. Admission to this event is free. Then the acclaimed Breaking Ground Poets will then take the stage. The Breaking Ground Poets is a creative outlet for teenagers ages 14 – 19 who are united by a love of poetry and dedicated to self-expression and self-discovery. Their goal is to empower youth through public speaking, emotional literacy, and creative writing. Through storytelling and positive reinforcement, the Breaking Ground Poets believe they can build a stronger generation or readers, writers, and thinkers.     Jewelry Making – Star Earrings

    Learn how to make these intricate-looking star shaped earrings using needle, thread and beads. Students should be able to finish one earring if not the entire pair that night. Pastel, black and white; red, white and blue; and red and green color ways will be available for students to create their earrings with. No experience required. All materials will be provided.

    Mat and Chair Integrated Kundalini Yoga
