LONG POND, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Breaking news of the Trump rally shooting came just moments after the end of day two at Pocono Raceway.

Fans making their way out of the track reacted to the gun violence. 28/22 News reporter Gianna Galli has our continuing coverage of Saturday’s breaking news.

Fans making their way out of Pocono Raceway Saturday leaving with much more on their minds then a race after hearing of the shooting that left former President Donald Trump injured.

“Not surprised. This would make the most political sense,” said Dr. Nicholas Gianoukaks

Dr. Nicholas Gianoukaks believes the attempted assassination comes in a highly-charged political climate during a hotly contested presidential campaign.

“The reaction has not been good. It’s not been measured. It’s been over the top,” stated Gianoukaks.

The former president covered by secret service agents moments after being grazed by a bullet during the rally, attempted to stand back up.

“He gets up. The man gets shot, he gets up. The man gets indicted I don’t even know how many times he gets back up,” noted Gianoukaks.

Dr. Gianoukaks has attended Trump rallies before, including that day in 2021 when the insurrection happened.

“January 6th. I’ve been to two and my very first one was in Washington D.C. They won’t leave him alone. They may have let him alone if he wasn’t running,” explained Gianoukaks.

Shots fired at the 2024 presumptive Republican nominee as the days inch closer to the Presidential Election.

“Individuals don’t see the rawness of the truth in this moment. If you don’t see it now you’re never going to,” said Gianoukaks.

Dr. Gianoukaks feared something like this would happen. He also fears this is not the last of the violence.
