    Salvation Army opening doors during heat wave

    TUPELO — With sweltering temperatures beating down the All-America City, the local branch of the Salvation Army is monitoring heat and opening its doors for individuals to cool off.

    The Salvation Army, located at 527 Carnation Street, opened its campus from last Friday through Tuesday as temperatures remained in the mid to high 90s with heat indexes well in the low to mid 100s the whole weekend. Temperatures peaked on Tuesday at 97 degrees.
