    NMMC introduces renal denervation procedure to treat high blood pressure

    TUPELO — High blood pressure, or hypertension, is the top preventable cause of strokes and heart attacks in the United States, according to Dr. Barry Bertolet, an interventional cardiologist at the North Mississippi Medical Center (NMMC).

    In Mississippi, roughly 50% of adults have high blood pressure. Of that 50%, around 80% of patients have uncontrolled high blood pressure while 20% are controlled with medications.
