Stellar Sports Complex Opens in Garner
Stellar Industries, a 100% employee-owned and -operated manufacturer of high-quality mechanic trucks, cranes, tire service trucks, hooklifts, trailers and service truck and van accessories, recently took part in the grand opening of the Stellar Sports Complex. This new baseball and softball complex is made up of three fields, a batting cage and a community gathering space.
Lyon county moves on from Annex building
ROCK RAPIDS—After more than a year of teetering back and forth on potential projects, flooding may have helped Lyon County finally find a solution for the Annex Building. Located off First Avenue in Rock Rapids, the Annex Building was home to county’s economic development, public health and engineering departments. The 56-year-old building needed updates to replace the heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems. Renovation plans also included an elevator lift and ramp to bring it up to code with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Carroll Chamber Readies For Ridiculous Day, Live + Local, And Mini Golf In Depot Park On Thursday
Tomorrow (Thursday) marks a big day for the Carroll Chamber of Commerce and its affiliate group, the Carroll Young Professionals (CYP), as Ridiculous Day, Live + Local, and mini-golf coincide near the downtown district. The Ridiculous Day sale features stellar discounts and dozens of businesses throughout the community. Chamber staff will give away $35 in chamber bucks every half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. To be eligible to win, participants must register using a ticket from one of the participating businesses, a list of which is included with this story on our website. CYP opens its mini-golf course in the Depot Centre Park at 5:30 p.m., where adults and kids can golf for just $5. Live + Local begins nearby at 6 p.m., featuring classic rock from Hap Hazard, who will be playing until 9 p.m. Live + Local is a BYOB-style event, meaning attendees can grab their coolers and lawn chairs to enjoy the free show. REMINDER: no glass containers and no hard liquor. The summer season features just two more Live + Locals after Thursday, Aug. 22 with Tony Bonhnenkamp and Sept. 19 with Mighty Mayhem.
