Free food, music and voter registration to be offered at NAACP Block Party Aug. 24
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Free food, music and the opportunity to register to vote will be offered at the New Hanover County Branch NAACP’s Block Party on Saturday, Aug. 24. The event is set to take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 714 Emory Street in Wilmington.

The City of Durham’s Cultural and Public Art Program invites artists and artist teams to submit portfolios as an entry to join the City of Durham Pre-Qualified Artist Registry. This registry will serve as a resource for the program’s selection of artists and artist teams to create City cultural and public art projects. Access to a predetermined network of qualified artists saves artists and staff members valuable time by making the process for responding to the numerous calls issued by the City more efficient. It also strengthens and streamlines the program by maintaining a database of artists in the community with particular skill sets.
UNC's 'Experimental Suites' Might Be the Most Embarrassing Idea of the Year
If I was looking to buy North Carolina season tickets and someone pitched me on one of these "experimental suites", I think I'd cuss them out. What is the idea here, exactly? So you're buying a "suite" of wooden bar chairs far less comfortable than the permanent seats right next to them — credit to UNC for having padded seats, that's a win — in a bad location where nobody was buying tickets, but you get a little bit of shade from a glorified beach tent? At least they also look terrible and embarrassing.
