Units respond to Tuesday Wreck on Ga. 15 in Turnerville
Units from Habersham County Emergency Services and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office responded Tuesday morning to a wreck on Expressway 441 (Ga. 15) southbound at Glen Hardman Road in Turnerville. Habersham County E-911 dispatchers began receiving calls on the initial two-vehicle wreck at 7:14am. Habersham County Emergency Services Engine 9, Med 9, Engine 17, Med 21, PIO, and multiple units from the sheriff’s office were dispatched. One vehicle caught fire after a subsequent collision involving one of the vehicles, shutting down the southbound lanes of Expressway 441 (Ga. 15) at Glen Hardman Road. The fire was quickly extinguished. One person was transported non-emergency by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville for treatment. The wrecks shut down the southbound lanes of Ga. 15 until 8:25am. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.

Hart County Man Arrested In High-Speed South Carolina Chase
With contribution from Dick Mangrum, WGOG-FM, Walhalla, SC. A Hart County man is arrested after a high-speed chase in Oconee County, South Carolina, Friday night. According to Walhalla Police Chief Tim Rice, a law enforcement officer observed a white Nissan Sentra traveling northbound at 106 miles per hour on US Highway 28 near the Walhalla Zaxby’s. When the officer attempted to make a traffic stop, the driver refused, and a chase ensued. Rice says the driver did eventually stop near the Scenic Plaza shopping center where he was taken into custody. Rice says the two small children were also found in the vehicle improperly restrained.
