Fire Department responds to Dawsonville Walmart
The Walmart in Dawsonville is closed due to a partial roof collapse possibly caused by heavy rainfall Wednesday morning. Troy Leist, Emergency Services and EMA Director for Dawson County Fire & Emergency Services told Smoke Signals, "We were dispatched to a smoke investigation. Upon our arrival, store staff said they had a major roof leak and water was pouring into the main electrical room as well as a large portion of the sales floor."
National nonprofit joins search for Maria Gomez Perez
GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The One in Five Foundation for Kids, a national nonprofit, is joining the ongoing search for Maria Gomez Perez, a missing 12-year-old from Gainesville who was last seen at her home in late May. The group is assembling a team of volunteers from its STOPNOW school community patrol team in its Dallas, San Antonio and Bell County chapters, who will aid in a grid search.
