2024 Summer Movie Series Kicks Off Tomorrow
The 2024 Summer Movies Series kicks off tomorrow, June 6, at the Historic Ritz Theatre with Disney’s WISH. Show times are at 10:00am and 7:00pm. The annual Summer Movie Series features family-friendly movies at the Historic Ritz Theatre, located at 139 Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa, every Thursday in June and July. Showtimes are at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., and offer fun and affordable entertainment for local kids, according to Toccoa Special Events Coordinator Misty Richardson.
Sandlot Tournament Update
In Region 7 Sectional tournament action last night, Toccoa had the night off, but Martinez-Evans shut out Athens, 6-0, topping out the losers bracket to take on the undefeated Toccoa Sandlot All-Stars team tonight, June 5, at 7 p.m. Toccoa trounced Martinez-Evens in game 5 of the tournament on June 3, 10-4, but outside of that loss, Martinez-Evans has been undefeated this tournament.

Update to Wednesday’s Chase and Manhunt in Clarkesville
The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update to Wednesday’s brief chase and manhunt in Clarkesville. The driver, Steven Xavier Ferguson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is charged with felony fleeing or attempting to elude, fugitive from justice, and misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement officers. Vonkeith Antwon Hall of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is charged with misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement officers. Darius Dion Henry of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is charged with misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement officers.
