Barbers to put skills to test at Lawrence showcase; registration, tickets available
Barbers from Kansas and surrounding states will soon rev up their clippers for a battle of their skills, and the Lawrence community is invited to bear witness. Jermaine “Gametime” Jackson, a longtime Lawrence barber who primarily cuts hair at Watson’s Barbershop, and his colleagues are organizing the second installment of the Cuttin’ Up Barber Showcase. Hosted in Lawrence, the event is designed to bring barbers from all walks of life together in celebration of their craft.
Kansas nearing finalized plan for student transportation to football games in 2024
Kansas Athletics is working on a plan to ensure KU students have access to transportation to home football games this fall. With David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium under construction, the Jayhawks are set to play their home games off campus in 2024. KU will play a pair of non-conference games at Children's Mercy Park (the home of Sporting Kansas City) and its four conference games at Arrowhead Stadium (the home of the Kansas City Chiefs).
Business Showcase returning for Great Bend area teachers
The Great Bend Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with USD 428, will host the 9th Annual Great Bend Business Showcase. This teacher appreciation event will take place Thursday, Aug. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Panther Activity Center (PAC) at Great Bend High School and will be open to 700+ educators and staff.
