Wichita hospital warns of increasing disease cases with children
Pediatricians in the Ascension Medical Group are reporting an increase in cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HMFD) and mononucleosis among children in the Wichita area. HFMD and mono are highly contagious and they are often spread through close contact, including sharing drinks, utensils and other personal items. HMFD mainly affects children under the age of 5, causing fever, sores in the mouth and a rash on the hands and feet. Mono is more common in adolescents and young adults, with the symptoms including fever, sore throat, and fatigue.
Flash sale on Dam Jam day passes now through Monday
GODDARD, Kan. (KAKE) - The Dam Jam Music Festival is having a flash sale on day passes for the two-day event in Goddard later this month. Now through Monday, general admission day passes are $104, a $40 savings off the regular price of $144. Each pass is good for July 19 or July 20.
Deputies respond to accident and make an arrest
On July 4th at 11:33 p.m.The Sheriff's Department reported that Deputies responded to the intersection of US 77 Highway and Rucker Road for a two-vehicle accident. Michael Cordray of Junction City was traveling northbound in a 2016 Mazda CX3 when he ran a red light and struck a 2021 F450 driven by Andre Roache of Fort Riley. No injuries reported. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
