    - What about the Kalen DeBoer offenses over the last few years didn’t you like? He took over as the Fresno State head coach in 2020 - his passing game finished fifth in the nation. It was ninth in 2021.

He took over the Washington head coaching gig in 2022 - No. 1 in the nation in passing by a relative mile. Last year? It finished No. 2 in passing behind Oregon, but it was good enough run onto the field to play for the national title.

He’s bringing over Washington tight end coach Nick Sheridan as the offensive coordinator, but the style continues. Get the ball out of the quarterback’s hands in a hurry to set up the deep shots.

Keep pressing, keep making defensive backs work, and keep putting everyone in positions to make big things happen.

    Does Bama have the parts?

    - It all starts with Jalen Milroe. He’s far more mobile than Jake Haener was at Fresno State or Michael Penix was - post injuries - at Washington, and he fits what this attack will want to do.

Never afraid to take the downfield shot, get ready for a whole lot of home runs from a playmaker who averaged ten yards per throw.

Last year’s backup Ty Simpson is back to go along with former star Washington recruit Austin Mack.

    - It’s not like the receivers are any sort of a concern, but they will need to prove themselves. Last year’s Washington offense not only had Penix Jr. bombing away, but receivers Rome Odunze (7th overall to Chicago), Ja’Lynn Polk (37th to New England), and Jalen McMillan (3rd round to Tampa Bay) were outstanding. Bama doesn’t have that bunch quite yet.

Tight end CJ Dippre has plenty of skills and should start to shine after catching 11 passes last season.

Kendrick Law has speed on the outside, star recruit Caleb Odom could shine right away, Kobe Prentice finished fourth on the team with 18 grabs, and coming in is Germie Bernard, a good target in last year’s Husky attack.

    - The offensive front will have to adjust a bit - it won’t be a problem. It’ll get its chances to bash away, but pass protection will be at a premium.

Last year’s Washington line was fifth in the nation in sacks allowed, but it didn’t push for the ground attack like Bama’s will.

Can 360-pound Kadyn Proctor take back the left tackle gig after leaving for Iowa, but not really, and then coming back?

There are options for the outside with Elijah Pritchett potentially a better fit for this style. The interior will be a killer.

Guards Tyler Booker - he’s the star of the show up front - and Jaeden Roberts are back. Quarterbacking it all is Washington transfer Parker Brailsford at center.

Milroe will be the team’s most dangerous runner, but the 1-2 punch of Jam Miller and Justice Haynes will carry most of the work with Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams gone.
