A 53-year-old Brookwood man was killed Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash in Tuscaloosa.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokeswoman with the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded at around 6:30 p.m. to a crash at the intersection of 55th Avenue East and Old Birmingham Highway.

Taylor said the driver of a Ford F-150 had crossed the center lane of traffic on Old Birmingham Highway and struck an oncoming Jeep Wrangler. Paramedics with Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue and Northstar EMS rendered aid to the driver of the F-150, but his injuries were too severe.

The F-150's driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Taylor said.

The driver of the Jeep, a 45-year-old woman who is also from Brookwood, was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center.

Taylor said the woman was listed in stable condition early Wednesday morning.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded to the accident site and is conducting the follow-up investigation.
