Alabama's Kendrick Law is posting some jaw-dropping workout numbers

Move over, DK Metcalf. There's a new athletic freak coming out of the SEC at wide receiver.

Kendrick Law hasn't done much during his time with the Alabama Crimson Tide. But he's already having an immediate impression on head coach Kalen DeBoer and his coaching staff.

DeBoer heaped praise on his wide receiver during SEC Media Days, citing some unreal workouts numbers that don't even seem possible to the average human being.

“He hit 23.6 mph in workouts, and he can absolutely fly," DeBoer told reporters . "On top of being a 450-pound bench guy."

For reference, Metcalf posted the fastest speed of any NFL player in 2023, reaching a top speed of 22.23 miles per hour . Tyreek Hill also posted a time of over 22 miles per hour last season. Meanwhile, the bench press reps at the NFL Scouting Combine are at 225 pounds.

That's an unreal combination of speed and strength. It shouldn't be too much of a surprise, however. Law was a 4-star recruit and the No. 3 athlete in the country in the 2022 recruiting class.

That athleticism hasn't translated to the field quite yet. Law has primarily played on special teams with some limited snaps at receiver over the last two seasons. He's caught just 23 passes for 238 yards, but also returned 18 kickoffs for 405 yards, with a longest return of 33 yards

That role should be expanded in 2024. The departures of Jermaine Burton to the NFL and Isaiah Bond to the transfer portal have opened up opportunities for other receivers. That opens the door to a huge season for Law, who should produce some highlight-worthy plays if he's testing like he is in the offseason.
