TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WIAT ) — One person was injured in a shooting in Tuscaloosa Wednesday.

According to Captain Jack Kennedy with Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, officers responded to a shooting at around 9 a.m. to the area of Kaulton Road. Upon arrival, officers located one person with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers were able to locate a vehicle with several suspects inside.

After processing evidence, officers determined that two suspects were the initial aggressors. The two suspects reportedly approached a residence and fired at an individual standing outside. The individual being shot at then returned fire. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

Kennedy noted several homes in the area were also shot into.

Two adults and two juveniles were charged. Johnny Hill Jr., 19, was charged with attempted murder and several counts of discharging into occupied dwellings and vehicle. Ja’Michael Bradley, 20, was charged with bond revocation on a prior first-degree assault charge. They are both in custody.

One juvenile was charged as an adult with attempted murder and several counts of discharging into occupied dwellings and vehicle. They are in custody. A second juvenile was charged with certain persons prohibited to possess a pistol as a juvenile and they were sent to a juvenile detention center. Due to their ages, they will not be identified.

Sherry Elmore and her family said it was a frightening experience hearing gunshots on Elm Street. They live a few houses down from where the shots rang out.

“It’s actually very frightening because lately we’ve been hearing more of it, and it has been more common,” Elmore said. “But this morning it sounded like a war, and it was scary to hear the back and forth.”

“I am thankful that we are OK, and nothing hit us because I was told some bullets hit some house,” Elmore continued. “So I am thankful because a bullet doesn’t have no name on it.”
