Tuscaloosa City School District holds job fair at Central High School

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WIAT ) – On Thursday, Tuscaloosa City Schools held a job fair for those looking to start a new career chapter in education.

The school system has 65 open positions, which include teachers, bus drivers, custodians, cafeteria workers, and teachers’ aides. A job fair was held at Central High School in the gymnasium to fill some of these spots.

DeMarcus Rudolph wants to become a classroom teacher and was thrilled to get the chance to meet different TCS school principals.

“I think it’s a good opportunity to fill spots and the quickest way for principals to see and greet the applicants to get a good first impression,” Rudolph said. “They can find out who really wants to teach.”

Dr. Deron Cameron is the Assistant Superintendent of Operations at TCS. He says the job fair is a good way to attract applicants who can help teach and help make a difference for students.

“It’s very exciting to give these opportunities out,” Dr. Cameron said. “When they become TCS employees they will make such a difference in a child’s life each and every day, whether as a bus driver, teacher, aide or custodian.”

Dr. Cameron says he hopes to have all 65 jobs filled by next Tuesday.
