The Alabama high school football season is just under a month away.
Here are 14 quarterbacks from the Tuscaloosa area to watch during the 2024 season.
Preston Lancaster
Tuscaloosa Academy, Sr.
Why chosen: The 6-foot-1, 210-pound quarterback returns after a 2023 season that saw him lead the state in passing yards and be named the ASWA Class 2A Back of the Year. Lancaster went 254-for-365 for 3,941 yards and 46 touchdowns last season with 90 carries for 213 yards and an additional nine scores. Lancaster currently holds an offer from Murray State.
Kalix Grisby
Holt, Jr.
Why chosen: Grisby plays on both sides of the ball for the Ironmen, also playing safety. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound Grisby started every game at quarterback for Holt last season and is poised for a great junior year.
Jordan Leverette
Bibb County, Sr.
Why chosen: The 6-foot-1, 165-pound Leverette started every game at quarterback last season for the Choctaws. The three-sport athlete holds Bibb County's single season record for passing touchdowns and went 90-for-170 with 1,603 passing yards and 22 touchdowns in 2023. He also added 97 carries for 577 yards.
Bryson Kimbrough
Hillcrest, Sr.
Why chosen: Kimbrough recently committed to Louisiana-Monroe to continue his football career. He holds a 13-2 record as starting quarterback for the Patriots and threw for 2,324 yards last season with 18 touchdowns. He added 367 yards rushing and 11 scores with his legs.
Jackson Rhodes
Northside, So.
Why chosen: As a freshman, Rhodes went 65-for-130 with 1,175 yards passing and 16 touchdowns.
Jase Neel
Gordo, Sr.
Why chosen: The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Neel went 79-for-121 for 1,481 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2023 while adding 65 carries for an additional 540 yards and 10 touchdowns.
L.J. Cormier
Sipsey Valley, Sr.
Why chosen: Cormier is a returning starter for the Bears, throwing for 2,667 yards and 27 scores last season.
Kai Young
American Christian Academy, Sr.
Why chosen: The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Young is entering his third year starting for ACA. He is looking to be the leader of the Patriots offense and team this season. Young threw for 1,826 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2023.

Jake Rickman
Fayette County, So.
Why chosen: The 5-foot-10, 150-pound Rickman earned the starting job his freshman year, where he went 145-for-259 for 1,631 yards passing and 15 touchdowns.
Alex Tant
Holy Spirit, Sr.
Why chosen: As a junior, Tant threw for 936 yards and ran for an additional 540. He also saw time on defense, collecting 55 total tackles.
Rowdy Christensen
Northridge, Sr.
Why chosen: Despite missing much of his junior season due to injury, The 6-foot, 165-pound Christensen went 97-for-136 for 1,569 yards passing and 15 touchdowns. He also rushed for 267 additional yards in his four games played.
Carter Dotson
Tuscaloosa County, Sr.
Why chosen: The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Dotson enters his first season at Tuscaloosa County under new head coach Miles Holcomb. Dotson joins the Wildcats from Chelsea High School.
Braeden Smith
Tuscaloosa County, Sr.
Why chosen: The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Smith started for the Wildcats last season in a season that saw them finish 5-5.
Armani White
Central, So.
Why chosen: The 5-foot-11, 175-pound White enters his first season starting for the Falcons, taking over for David McNeil who graduated in 2024. White has been a starter on the Falcons' varsity baseball team since his eighth grade year.
