Mahanoy Area School District bans cell phone use during school hours
MAHANOY CITY, Pa, (WOLF) — Mahanoy Area School District has announced for the 2024-2025 school year that the use of cell phones will be prohibited by students during school hours. A bill to limit access to phones in school was officially signed into law last week by Governor Shapiro.
Police seeking Mahanoy City woman on felony drug charges
State police and other law enforcement agencies continue to seek a Mahanoy City woman on drug charges. Ashley Duran, 27, of Mahanoy City, is charged with felony manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, possession of a controlled substance, use or possession of drug paraphernalia and possessing a firearm when not permitted to do so.
Man sets fire to home to halt sheriff's sale: Police
Dalmatia, Pa. — A warrant was issued Friday for a Northumberland County man who allegedly set his home on fire the day it was scheduled for a sheriff's sale. Early the morning of June 20, firefighters responded to a a fire at the two-story home of Andrew John Souder, 35, at the 200 block of River Road in Lower Mahanoy Township. Pottsville Man Sentenced for Drug Trafficking in Schuylkill County
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has announced that a Schuylkill County man was sentenced for drug trafficking. William Quintana, age 51, of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, was sentenced Tuesday to 117 months’ imprisonment by United States District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion for drug trafficking and firearm offenses.
