TUSCOLA, Ill. (WCIA) — Flesor’s Candy Kitchen in Tuscola is almost done with construction.

The restaurant building needed an upgrade. It’s been going on for more than two months. Contractors knocked down walls, set up new beams, and fixed window seals.

Co-Owner Devon Flesor-Story said the community was a big help in getting this unexpected project finished.

“The town and people out of town are supporting us with their thoughts and prayers, but also financially, because this is crazy. This is a crazy project, a crazy amount of money. Also, you know, we’re facing it in our 60s, which we had not planned to do.”

She said they raised more than $90,000 and are still getting donations. The restaurant is planning a street party on Labor Day weekend once the carpentry and everything else is done.
