Emmys 2024 Poll: What Should Win for Outstanding Comedy Series?

The Bear is trying to cook up a second straight win for Outstanding Comedy Series at this year’s Emmys — but a mix of veteran shows and first-time nominees are making sure the competition stays hot.

Hulu’s acclaimed culinary dramedy leads this year’s pack of eight nominees, with Season 2 earning a record 23 nominations overall, topping 30 Rock in 2009 for the most nominations ever for a comedy in a single year. (Keep in mind: It’s Season 2 of The Bear that is eligible for this year’s Emmys, not the recently released Season 3.) It’ll face stiff competition, though, from a trio of comedies earning their third nods for best comedy: ABC’s Abbott Elementary , Max’s Hacks and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building . None of those three shows have taken home the big prize yet, though.

Also back for another crack at Emmy gold: Larry David’s HBO cringe comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm , nabbing its 11th nomination in this category for its 12th and (supposedly) final season; and FX’s vampire chronicle What We Do in the Shadows , nominated for the third time here. Plus, a pair of Emmy newcomers are in the mix: Hulu’s Reservation Dogs , finally breaking through with its third and final season; and the freshman season of Apple TV+’s Palm Royale .
