Garcia has booked a multi-episode arc on Paramount+’s Criminal Minds: Evolution as Dr. Julia Ochoa, a leading neuropsychiatrist who is “assigned to help a high-profile patient recover from his injury-induced brain trauma,” Deadline reports.
Now, is it me, or does that very much sound like she will be treating serial killer Elias Voit (Zachary Gilford), who in the Season 17 finale was released to gen pop and promptly took a brutal beating, once word leaked out about who he was…?
Especially when you consider that, per the same character description, Dr. Ochoa “clashes with Alvez (Adam Rodriguez),” who believes in a more aggressive approach where her star patient is concerned.

Criminal Minds was renewed for Season 18 back in June, a day ahead of the Evolution -themed revival’s second season premiere. TVLine readers gave Season 17 an average grade of “B+,” whereas Evolution Round 1 scored just shy of a rare “A+” (and with six times as many votes).
Speaking with TVLine last month , Criminal Minds showrunner Erica Messer said that although the Gold Star storyline wrapped with Season 17’s finale, the BAU’s time with serial killer Elias Voit isn’t over.
“He threw us the curve ball with Gold Star, he wanted us on a new quest. But what did he distract us from ? His network ,” Messer teased.
In addition to her aforementioned five-season run as Lucifer ‘s Ella Lopez, Garcia’s TV credits include Dexter , Woke , CBS’ ill-fated Rush Hour series and Hallmark Mystery’s The Case of Mystery Lane movie franchise, which premieres its second installment, Death Is Listening , this Friday
