Exactly one year after soap vet Billy Miller passed away , his former General Hospital co-star Kelly Monaco is paying tribute for the first time.

“Duces ‘I’ve got your back and you always had mine’ I will tell our story soon enough,” Monaco captioned an Instagram photo of the pair smiling with roses in their teeth on Sunday. “I love and miss you… and beyond.”

Miller joined the ABC soap in 2014, taking over the role of Jason Morgan/Drew Cain from Steve Burton, and played opposite Monaco’s Sam McCall. While Miller left the show in 2019, Monaco stayed on until it was announced last month that she will be exiting after 21 years.

Miller died on Sept. 15, 2023 at the age of 43 following a lengthy battle with bipolar disorder . After his death, several of his former colleagues penned tributes, including Young and the Restless’ Amelia Heinle , Suits creator Aaron Korsh and several soap stars . Y&R also aired a special montage in memory of Miller in the days after his passing.

Miller first burst into the soap world in 2007 when he joined the cast of All My Children as Richie Novak. A two-year stint on the ABC soap paved the way for his breakout role as Y&R ‘s Billy Abbott. He was the fourth actor to play Billy on CBS’ top-rated drama, but he more than made the role his own. To wit, during his six years on the show (2008-14), he won three Daytime Emmys (two for Outstanding Supporting Actor and one for Outstanding Lead Actor).

Miller’s primetime credits included guest stints on CSI: NY, Justified, Ringer, Major Crimes and Ray Donovan . He also recurred in Suits as Marcus Specter, the brother of Gabriel Macht’s Harvey Specter, and the first season of Apple TV+’s Truth Be Told as the husband of Lizzy Caplan’s Lanie.
