The Fates have spoken: KAOS has been cancelled after just one season at Netflix, TVLine has confirmed.

On Thursday, series creator Charlie Covell (who also wrote the U.K. series The End of the F***ing World ) said he was “gutted” by the news that KAOS would not return for Season 2, urging fans to keep the show in the TV conversation despite its cancellation.

“Of course I’m gutted not to be making more KAOS , but I don’t want this news to overshadow what we did make,” Covell wrote in an Instagram post . “I’m incredibly lucky to have worked with such an exceptionally talented cast and crew, and I’m extremely proud of our show. Thank you to absolutely everybody involved: It was a Herculean team effort, and a huge privilege to work with you all.”

Covell also thanked the show’s fans for their “love and enthusiasm” and eagle-eyed observations about the series, noting that “one theory about who or what ‘Kaos’ is was bang on the money.”

“My hope now is that people still continue to discover and enjoy the show: I reckon there are some potential fans out there who might need more time to find it, so please keep talking about KAOS if you enjoyed it,” he said.

KAOS offered a fresh take on the Greek god Zeus (Jeff Goldblum), who’s all-powerful, yet extremely insecure as his status as King of the Gods is thrown into jeopardy. After he’s threatened by the Fates and a few humans, he warned: “I’m gonna wipe these f—kers right off the face of the f—king Earth.”

The Season 1 finale (which dropped Thursday, Aug. 29) received an average TVLine reader grade of “A-.”
