Velma has declared her last “Jinkies!” on Max. The streamer has canceled the animated series after two seasons, TVLine has confirmed.

“Over the past two seasons, Mindy [Kaling] and Charlie [Grandy] have created an incredibly fun and fresh world within the iconic whodunit franchise,” reads a statement from Max. “While we won’t be moving forward with another season of the series, we thank them for their compelling coming-of-age storytelling, unrivaled clues, and hilarious hijinks.”

Created by Grandy and executive-produced by Kaling, Velma separated itself from previous Scooby-Doo series by focusing on bespectacled teen detective Velma Dinkley. It is also the first show in the franchise to not feature Scooby-Doo.

Velma ‘s 10-episode first season, which was not extremely well-received by critics , streamed from January to February 2023. The show returned for a second season on April 25, 2024, dropping all 10 episodes at once. A Halloween special also debuted on Oct. 3, 2024.

Kaling starred as the show’s titular sleuth, alongside the voices of Glenn Howerton as Fred Jones, Sam Richardson as Norville “Shaggy” Rogers and Constance Wu as Daphne Blake.

Notable guest voices included Melissa Fumero as Velma’s father’s girlfriend Sophie, Sarayu Blue as Velma’s missing mother Diya, Jane Lynch and Wanda Sykes as Daphne’s adoptive mothers, Nicole Byer and Gary Cole as Norville’s parents, Sara Ramirez as the non-binary child of Hex Girls lead singer Thorn, and Vanessa Williams as Norville’s grandmother.
