Two people are dead after a pair of major motor vehicle accidents occurred within minutes of one another on Saturday morning on the Seward and Kenai Spur Highways. At 11:55 a.m., Alaska State Troopers in Soldotna responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Treasure Chest and the Kenai Spur Highway.
King Cove man charged with killing parents in Anchorage house fire
A man from King Cove is now charged with arson and murder in his parents’ deaths earlier this year following an Anchorage house fire. Joshua Gould, 46, is facing more than half a dozen charges filed Wednesday, including two counts of first-degree murder and a count of arson in the deaths of James and Kathryn Gould.

Pilot project puts wildfire sensors on Anchorage Hillside
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Anchorage Fire Department has a new tool for detecting wildfires on the Anchorage Hillside that can provide an early alert to first responders. The system called FIRE-SPY consists of a small box that contains a sensor which is mounted on a utility pole. There are currently 25 monitors in place on the Hillside with plans to install five more by the end of July.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Over a hundred cyclists turned out for the Salty’s Gives Back fundraiser on Saturday, to further show Fairbanks has a heart of gold. “It’s the Pwerhouse, Lavelle’s Taphouse and Salty’s on Second,” listed Pwerhouse founding coach Jenny Gilbertson, “and we bring all of our cycling bikes down right in front of Salty’s and we raise money for over 40 different causes and charities, mostly local to Fairbanks.”
