MANITOWOC – The speed limit on Waldo Boulevard between the roundabout and North Sixth Street will remain at 25 mph.

Council member Todd Reckelberg proposed changing the speed limit to 30 mph instead of 35 mph as a middle ground.

"If you ask unreasonable things of people, you're not going to get the response you want," he said.

However, other council members did not support any change, citing safety and continuity as their reasons.

Council member Eric Sitkiewitz said he'd like to see a study done on the consistency of speed limits throughout the city. He said the speed limits on some streets like Rapids Road and other portions of Waldo Boulevard seem to change more than what is needed.

"Without any data supporting why we're doing what we're doing, it feels like we're just arbitrarily picking a number (speed limit)," he said.

The council voted on a motion to deny any change to the speed limit on Waldo Boulevard and it passed 8-1, with Reckelberg being the only vote against.

The speed limit on Waldo Boulevard between the roundabout and North Sixth Street was changed from 35 mph to 25 after the construction of the roundabout and that portion of Waldo Boulevard was completed in 2020.

Two Rivers asking for feedback on new Parks and Open Space Plan

Two Rivers leaders are looking for residents' feedback on a new Parks and Open Space Plan for the city.

A survey was posted on the Two Rivers Parks and Recreation Department Facebook page July 15. It said the document will "guide the future strategic direction of our parks, open spaces and recreational facilities."

The full plan can be viewed online at the Two Rivers' city website, two-rivers.org.

The online survey is available at surveymonkey.com/r/6LDVX8z. Hard copies of the feedback form will be available at the Two Rivers Senior Center and at the Community House front desk.

People will also have the chance to give feedback during an open house meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Two Rivers Senior Center.
