TWO RIVERS – An arrest Friday night in Two Rivers that required the use of an armored vehicle was an isolated incident and the public is not in any danger, police said in a news release Saturday.

The release said Two Rivers police were dispatched to a residence on the south side of the city at around 7:30 p.m. July 26 for the report of a man threatening to stab a woman.

When officers arrived, the release said the man was “causing extensive amounts of damage to vehicles owned by the female with what appeared to be a firearm in his hand, before fleeing the area.”

Since it was believed the man may have fled into the Woodland Dunes Nature Preserve, police requested assistance from K-9s from Manitowoc Police Department and Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office and a drone from Manitowoc Police Department to assist in searching for the man.

Two Rivers police were ultimately able to negotiate with the man via phone and he informed them of his location. The sheriff’s office's BearCat armored vehicle was requested to respond to Two Rivers and was used to safely take the man into custody without further incident, the release said, adding officers found a fake rifle in the man’s possession.

The 33-year-old man, a Two Rivers resident, is being held at Manitowoc County Jail on suspicion of battery-domestic violence offense, criminal damage to property-domestic violence offense, second-degree recklessly endangering safety, intimidation of a victim and misdemeanor bail jumping. The suspect’s name was not released and no further details were immediately available.
