TWT- Highschool Sports- Football- With spring football around the corner and those Friday Night Lights only 4 short months away, lets get ready to bring some State Football Titles back to the Brass City! Crosby High School Football was a dominate force in the 1950s with 2 State Titles. Wilby High School has had moments of greatness and Waterbury Career Academy & John F. Kennedy High School, Waterbury, CT have all had talented players and teams but no State Playoff appearences too speak off in recent memory. With the new look CIAC meant to level the playing field when it comes to scheduling, the tables are going to turn on the gridiron soon. The City of Waterbury has some of the fastest, strongest, most athletic talent in the State. Perhaps it is an unfortunate coincident that our public schools have played State Powerhouse ( Ansonia, Holy Cross, & Watetown ) for years as just a regular Saturday. Those schools have higher student population and are in different State Classes then say, Wilby or Crosby. Waterbury Public Schools will soon match up against similar competition which will make qualifying for the State Playoffs realistically possible for the 1st time for Waterbury Public Schools in a very long time. #thewaterburytimes #Waterbury #CrimeNews #CommunityEngagement #waterburyct #TWT.
