TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) – Spending the Fourth of July on Tybee Island is a tradition for many, with a free fireworks display visible along the beaches.

This year’s show starts at 9:15 p.m. at the Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion.

With large crowds in mind, the Tybee Island Police Department will be implementing its plan for heavy traffic.

This means the center lanes will be reserved only for emergency vehicles so they can quickly respond where needed most.

License readers will also be active across the island.

And in general, you can expect an increased law enforcement presence.

“Please remember to remain patient, be kind to one another, and drive carefully,” the department shared on Facebook. “Your safety is important to us!”

Remember: parking can be limited on busy holidays like the Fourth. Travel onto the island early to ensure you get a spot.

Parking is enforced from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., including holidays.
