ABILENE, Texas — Assistant Chief Joel Harris’ career in law enforcement has been shaped by a lifelong love of movies and a desire for public service. Harris, age not provided, of Abilene, Texas, grew up working at his parents' Box Office Video rental stores in Abilene. "That was actually a big part of my life," he said. Harris continued working there through his time at Cisco College and Abilene Christian University. His passion for cinema remains strong, with a room in his home dedicated to movie memorabilia, including a projector, movie marquees, posters, and a popcorn machine. His favorite film is the 1978 classic "Superman," starring Christopher Reeve.
