    “Inspire the future of education”: Tyler ISD teacher finalist for presidential award

    TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) — A 5th grade math teacher at Caldwell Arts Academy was named one of six Texas finalists for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), Tyler ISD said.

    Layne Fumo is one of three math educators chosen for the PAEMST, the highest recognition that can be given to an educator for their outstanding teaching in STEM courses. Tyler ISD said this recognition marks her exceptional contributions and proves her commitment to inspiring students in the mathematics field.

    “I am honored to be considered a candidate for this prestigious award,” Fumo said. “My goal has always been to be a top-notch educator in mathematics and to inspire students to reach their highest potential. This award has shown me that I am on my way to becoming who I have always wanted to be. I have been inspired by so many individuals in my field and one day hope to inspire the future of education.”
