TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) – An East Texas woman was recognized by a congressman for her patriotism and commitment to teaching about our nation’s history.

Camille Brown, Executive Director and Founder of Stepping Stone School in Tyler, was recognized by Congressman Nathaniel Moran for going above and beyond for her students.

“I was totally surprised, but I am very honored that they would think about me in the first place, there are so many people that I’m sure are more worthy than I, but I accept that on behalf of our staff here and our families,” Brown said.

The Minuteman recognition is given out monthly by Moran’s office to East Texans who are “patriotic, dependable, and deeply committed to making our communities better.” To Moran, the Minutemen of the Revolutionary War exemplified loyalty, dependability and a commitment to improve your community.
