Loggins Restaurant celebrating 75 years in Tyler

TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) – The year was 1949 when Paul and Ruth Loggins decided to open the Loggins Restaurant in Tyler.

“Everything that we served come out of the window here, we picked it up and delivered it to the table, made sure the customer was happy,” a waitress at Loggins Restaurant Susie King said.

The Loggins’ have kept the restaurant in the family and in the same spot for seven and a half decades. Susie King, who has worked at Loggins for 45 years, credits their success to their commitment to East Texas.

“Lots of hard work, giving good service, wonderful food and the Loggins are good people,” King said.

Steve Morriss has been coming since 1963 because of the atmosphere and good food.

“They’d come sit at the table with you and talk to you and that was special to us to know that the owner would take time to make us feel welcome,” said long-time customer Steve Morriss.

From the moment you walk through the door, you’re treated like family.

“It’s kind of like “Cheers”, everybody’s on a first-name basis,” King said.

Even with changes over the decades, long-time customers like Morriss say they will continue to come back.

“It’s just a great family place, not many places left in Tyler that have been here 70 or 75 years,” Morriss said.
