TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) — Less than a month after he took over as Tyler Junior College’s new athletic director, former Apaches head baseball coach Doug Wren has found his successor.

Tyler Junior College formally introduces Doug Wren as new athletic director

And it’s a guy he had at the top of his list from the start of his search, and also someone who is pretty familiar with TJC and Texas JUCO baseball.

Brett Doe was formally introduced as the Apaches head baseball coach Thursday at the Rogers Palmer Performing Arts Center.

Doe, a native of Mesquite who played college baseball at Navarro and Baylor before playing professionally in the Minnesota Twins organization, comes to TJC following three seasons as the head baseball coach at Dodge City Community College in Kansas.

He’s had a successful baseball career as a shortstop, leading Navarro to its’ first ever NJCAA National Championship as a freshman in 2011 followed by a national runner-up finish in 2012.

Doe’s on-field success has carried over to his time as a coach at Navarro and Dodge City and he looks forward to carrying on TJC Baseball’s strong tradition of success.
