TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) – Two people were arrested in Tyler after an investigation into human trafficking.

Working with the Texas Attorney General’s Office Human Trafficking Unit and the North Texas Human Trafficking Task Force, Tyler police arrested 24-year-old James Emmitt Dews III and 23-year-old Hannah Nicole Moore for trafficking a child.

Dews and Moore were booked into the Smith County Jail on Thursday and each given a $750,000 bond.

According to probable cause affidavits for both Moore and Dews, they arranged for a minor to have sex with various people in exchange for money, and they benefitted financially from the arrangement.

The investigation started when a teenager’s mother reported finding “concerning things” in her child’s cell phone, including messages between the teen and two contacts identified as “JD” and “Hannah.”

According to the affidavit, “JD” said he would pick her up and show her “the hustle game” before asking for inappropriate pictures. The detective also found where “Hannah” was advising the minor on how to interact with several different individuals and gave her a list of prices to charge.

“It was obvious Hannah was coordinating meet ups with several individuals” for the minor, the affidavit stated.

In a forensic interview, the teen identified JD as the “pimp.” In a later interview with police, the teen said that Hannah “handled all the ads” on a website “known for prostitutions and escorts to have sexual intercourse in exchange for money.” She would also allegedly “send up the johns” for the minor to perform sexual acts for money.

For the Silent and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County also provided resources and assistance during this investigation, police said.
