Ceairra Franklin awarded $1,000 scholarship by Hugh Green Scholarship Foundation
NATCHEZ, Miss. — Ceairra Franklin, a 2024 graduate of Natchez High School, is the 2024 recipient of a $1,000 scholarship awarded by the Hugh Green Scholarship Foundation. The funding will go toward her education at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, where she is studying to become a licensed laboratory technician.
Columbia wraps up $1 million water, sewer rehabilitation project
COLUMBIA, Miss. (WDAM) - The City of Columbia just wrapped up a $1 million project to upgrade water and sewer services in some northern sections of the city. Columbia used a $600,000 federal Community Development Block Grant to help replace or repair water and sewer lines and add storm water inlets to several city streets.

Court proceedings delay reopening of behavioral health unit in Jackson
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The St. Dominic Behavioral Health unit closed in June 2023. And despite plans for it to reopen with different ownership, a lawsuit is delaying that. Texas-based Oceans Behavioral Health had applied to lease the unit as a separately licensed psychiatric hospital. According to filed documents, Ocean’s plan is to offer acute adult psychiatric services using the existing 77 inpatient beds formerly offered by St. Dominic.
