New Old Trail Store to Offer Groceries, Plants, Gifts and More
Sometime next month, Sarae Janes and Rick Lewis will open Wendell House on the ground level of the newly constructed mixed-use building at Old Trail Village Center. The couple, who moved to Greenwood from Nashville two years ago, were seeking a smaller, more cohesive community. That was the first big change for Janes and Lewis, who were working remotely, Janes as a nonprofit communications director and Lewis as a literary agent. The second change was to start a new business focusing on the products of local growers and artisans.
Scott’s Ivy Exxon Expansion Cleared to Launch
Scott’s Ivy Exxon has been the site of a gas station in one form or another for over 50 years, and owner Scott Ramm’s dream of expanding the service and repair side of his business has taken more than a dozen of those years to come to fruition. Ramm moved his service station from Barracks Road in Charlottesville to the Ivy Depot stretch of Ivy Road (Rt. 250) in 2012 and began planning the expansion, embarking on the long process of acquiring county and state approvals in 2017. Now, finally, it looks like the path is clear to begin construction.
Demolition of South First project continues
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The work to demolish some old structures on South First Street is continuing, and it should be completed by the end of this month. The Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority says phase two of its redevelopment project has now seen most of the old community center torn down.

New Block of Homes Coming to Old Trail Near Route 250
Builders in Crozet’s Old Trail development have been clearing land for a new block of homes at the intersection of Rt. 250 and Old Trail Drive across from Western Albemarle High School. The plan is for about 52 single-family detached units on 20 acres just south of the recently completed Bishopsgate Lane block. David Brockman, executive vice president of March Mountain Properties, which has owned and developed Old Trail, said the aim is for a “nice landscape border” along Rt. 250.

Virginia State University Awarded $3 Million To Establish Research Center For Engineering Students
The center will provide new educational and career opportunities while addressing the underrepresentation of African Americans in the field of Engineering-Computer Science. Virginia State University is proud to announce that the College of Engineering and Technology has been awarded $3 million from the National Science Foundation to establish the Trojan Center for Emerging Engineering Research.
