Georgia freshman, Buford grad KJ Bolden draws bold praise
KJ Bolden, recently the anchor of Buford football’s secondary, might be on his way to a seamless transition to the next level with the Georgia Bulldogs. Bolden arrived at Georgia after a highly-publicized recruiting race. He pledged to Florida State, but flipped to the Bulldogs on early signing day last December. Head coach Kirby Smart spoke with resonation as he said a high school player is never truly committed, and Georgia made its jump. Georgia “never stopped recruiting” the Buford standout, Smart said.

McDonough Man Charged with Murder in Porterdale Shooting
PORTERDALE — The Newton County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a McDonough man on charges that he shot and killed a Covington man at a Porterdale bar. Kyle Fowler, 68, of Covington, was killed in the shooting at the Porterdale Bar and Grill sometime between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
