St. Francis County man pleads guilty to string of bank robberies in 2022
FORREST CITY — A St. Francis County man entered a guilty plea after an agreement with prosecutors yesterday to bank robbery charges. Brandon McGruder was charged with four separate counts of bank robbery. Those included robberies at the First Financial Bank and Armor Bank in Forrest City, Regions Bank in Marion, and Premier Bank in West Memphis.

Arkansas left-handed pitcher Stone Hewlett signed a free agent deal with the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday after going undrafted in the 2024 MLB Draft. Hewlett appeared 23 times out of the bullpen for the Razorbacks as a senior after spending his first three years with the Kansas Jayhawks. The Leawood (Kan.) native posted a 1-0 record with an ERA of 3.46 across 13 innings of work while allowing six hits and eight walks with 23 strikeouts.
