PHOENIX— The northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard will be closed for approximately 60 days beginning Tuesday, July 23, as part of the ongoing freeway widening project in north Scottsdale, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).

Drivers who typically use this ramp are advised to use the northbound frontage road north of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and then enter northbound Loop 101 at the Pima Road/Princess Drive interchange, ADOT advised in its news release dated July 19.

The $108 million Loop 101 Improvement Project, which began in January, is aimed at widening the freeway between Shea Boulevard and Princess Drive/Pima Road.

According to ADOT, the project includes adding one lane in each direction over a 4.5-mile stretch of the Pima Freeway.

The Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard interchange will be reconfigured to a diamond layout, with new signs, traffic signals, and lighting also being installed.

The northbound Loop 101 off-ramp at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, which has been closed since late May, is scheduled to reopen by late July, according to ADOT.

Throughout the two-year project, on- and off-ramps between Shea Boulevard and Pima Road/Princess Drive will be rebuilt to align with the wider freeway.

The entire project is expected to be completed in early 2026, according to ADOT.

Funding for the project includes contributions from Proposition 400, a dedicated half-cent sales tax approved by Maricopa County voters in 2004.

The project is managed under the Regional Transportation Plan by the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), which oversees metropolitan planning for the Greater Phoenix area.
