PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) announced today that westbound Interstate 10 (I-10) will be closed between U.S. 60 and Interstate 17 (I-17) from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, to 4 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, for roadwork.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays, according to ADOT.

Several key ramps will be affected by the closure, ADOT noted.

    These include:

    • Westbound U.S. 60 to westbound I-10
    • Southbound State Route 143 (SR 143) to westbound I-10
    • Eastbound I-10 to northbound SR 143

Additionally, the following westbound I-10 on-ramps will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, to 4 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9:

    • Elliot Road, Baseline Road, and Broadway Road
    • 40th Street and 32nd Street
    • The westbound U.S. 60 on-ramps at McClintock Drive, Rural Road, and Mill Avenue

Detours: ADOT has provided detour options to help ease the impact of the closures. Motorists traveling through the affected area are advised to use eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) or U.S. 60 to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway).

From there, they can take westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to access southbound SR 143 and westbound I-10 beyond the closure.

Drivers heading to the West Valley can bypass the closure by using Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway), which connects to I-10 at 59th Avenue, according to ADOT.

For travelers going to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport from westbound I-10 or U.S. 60, ADOT recommends using northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) to westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway), which leads to the Sky Harbor Boulevard entrance.
