PHOENIX – According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), beginning tonight, westbound I-10 will be closed between State Route 143 (SR 143) and Interstate 17 for a traffic shift.

The closure begins at 10 p.m., and continues until 4 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16.

Motorists should expect delays, and the southbound SR 143 ramp to westbound I-10 will also be closed during this time.

In addition, the following ramps will be closed starting today from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16:

    • Westbound I-10 on-ramps at Baseline and Broadway roads and 40th and 32nd streets.
    • Westbound US 60 on-ramp at Mill Avenue.
    • Southbound SR 143 on-ramp at University Drive.

Motorists can take northbound SR 143 or eastbound US 60 to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway), then westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to reconnect with westbound I-10 beyond the closure, according to ADOT.

    Public Meeting

In addition, ADOT will hold a public meeting to provide information on the upcoming project to widen Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) between I-17 and 75th Avenue.

The meeting is set for Thursday, Sept. 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Foothills Recreation and Aquatics Center, 5600 W. Union Hills Drive, Glendale.

This project will add a new lane in each direction along Loop 101, improve traffic flow, and reconstruct on- and off-ramps.

Construction is scheduled to begin on Sept. 27 and will take approximately two-and-a-half years to complete, according to ADOT.

Drivers should anticipate lane restrictions and weekend closures during the construction period.

For more details, ADOT's project team will present an overview of the construction plan at the meeting, including how drivers and residents may be affected, according to ADOT.
