PHOENIX - As the MLB season winds down, the Arizona Diamondbacks are in the thick of the playoff race. With an 83-66 record, the D-backs hold a strong 91.6% chance of clinching a Wild Card spot, according to Baseball-Reference.

Known for their perseverance as the "Answerbacks," Arizona is determined to return to October baseball and defend their National League title.

The Philadelphia Phillies, at 90-59, are the favorites to secure the top seed in the NL and a first-round bye.

The Milwaukee Brewers, holding an 86-63 record, are on track to win the NL Central, while the Los Angeles Dodgers, with an 88-61 record, are poised to take the NL West.

Both the Brewers and Dodgers have greater than 99% chances of making the postseason, per Baseball-Reference.

Arizona is in a tight battle with the San Diego Padres for a Wild Card spot. The Padres, with an 85-65 record and a 99.2% chance of making the playoffs, have the edge, but the Diamondbacks are close behind.

The New York Mets, currently 81-68, are also fighting for a Wild Card berth with a 57.1% chance of advancing to the playoffs, according to Baseball-Reference.

    Most Likely Playoff Scenarios

According to Baseball-Reference, here’s the current NL playoff outlook:

Top Seed: Phillies (First Round Bye)

    Division Winners: Dodgers, Brewers

    Wild Cards: Padres, Diamondbacks, Mets

With the playoffs in sight, the "Answerbacks" are in a strong position, but every game is crucial to keep their playoff hopes alive and return to October baseball.

Tonight, the Diamondbacks face the Colorado Rockies in a pivotal showdown with Merrill Kelly (4-0, 4.26 ERA) starting on the mound for Arizona. The game begins at 5:40 PM from Coors Field in Denver.

With only 13 games remaining, each win is vital as the D-backs fight to secure a playoff spot and defend their NL pennant.
