PHOENIX - The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) announced today that US 60 between Superior and Miami will be fully closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, Wednesday, Sept. 25, and Thursday, Sept. 26.

The closure is part of the US 60: Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon Bridges Project, which involves replacing critical bridges and upgrading infrastructure along the highway.

According to ADOT, the project includes replacing the Queen Creek Bridge and reconstructing the Waterfall Canyon Bridge, located between mileposts 227 and 229.5, just east of Superior in Pinal County.

The new Queen Creek Bridge will be built to the east of the existing structure, and the current steel bridge will be removed after construction is complete.

The Waterfall Canyon Bridge will be reconstructed into two box culverts to improve drainage. Additional maintenance work, including guardrail replacement near the Queen Creek Tunnel, will also be conducted.

    Access and Detour Details

Local Traffic Access: US 60 between Miami and Magma Mine Road (mileposts 231-243) will remain open for local traffic only.

Detour: Eastbound traffic will use southbound State Route 177 through Winkelman to northbound SR 77, while westbound traffic will follow the reverse route. This detour will add approximately one hour to travel times due to its 75-mile length.

ADOT recommends that drivers plan ahead, consider traveling outside the closure window, and expect possible delays. Flagging operations may also be in effect before and after the closures.

    Travel Advisory

ADOT urges drivers to exercise caution, allow extra time, and slow down when approaching work zones. Guardrail replacements and maintenance work near the Queen Creek Tunnel are also scheduled as part of the project.
