PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) announced today that westbound Interstate 10 will be closed between Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway) and US 60 for paving work and a traffic shift.

The closure will occur from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, to 4 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, as part of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project.

According to ADOT, during this time, westbound I-10 will be reduced to two lanes between US 60 and SR 143. Several ramps will also be closed, including the ramps from Loop 202 to westbound I-10 and the HOV ramp from westbound US 60 to westbound I-10.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and expect detours. A suggested detour for westbound I-10 traffic is to take eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway), then to westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to reconnect with westbound I-10 beyond the closure.

For those heading to the West Valley, ADOT recommends using Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) west and north to connect with I-10 at 59th Avenue.

Travelers heading to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport from westbound I-10 or US 60 should use Loop 101 (Price Freeway) north to Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and access the airport via Sky Harbor Boulevard.

Once westbound I-10 reopens, according to ADOT, drivers will have an additional access point to the westbound Collector Distributor roads, north of Baseline Road, with access to SR 143, Broadway Road, and 40th Street.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead to avoid delays.
